About Us

My business started in 2014 as a longarm quilting service business. Clients bring their pieced quilt tops to me. Using my longarm sewing machine on a 12 foot frame I stitch the quilt top, batting and backing together to make a quilt.  If you have a quilt you would like long armed please use the contact us page.

The name DATS Studio was created using the initials of my children, husband and myself. 

When I first started my business I used the phrase "listen with your eyes" on all my correspondence. This phrase challenges the reader to "hear" what a quilt may be saying to them. The phrase is also descriptive of me personally, as I am a profoundly hard of hearing person who lip reads. I hear with my eyes!

In 2015, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through chemotherapy and radiation. During this time, my business expanded to include embroidery. Using a single needle embroidery machine I was embroidering towels, aprons, t-shirts, sweatshirts and more. In 2018, I added a second embroidery machine and started creating embroidered vinyl key fobs.  If you see any item in this shop that you would like customized for your individual taste please do not hesitate to use the contact us page.

Now, during 2020, my business has evolved again. We have launched this new online e-commerce store, and have also started making fabric masks for frontline workers. I have donated many masks to the local home care nurses who took such good care of me during my chemotherapy.
